Photo one: Mantis. I spotted a mantis sitting on a tropical flower in the Tirimbina rainforest reserve, Costa Rica, where our class was on an educational hike. I had no idea what the creature was until a few hours later, when the photo allowed me to look at it in detail.
Photo two: Banana Worker. On the trip to Sarapiqui in Costa Rica we took a tour of the Dole banana plantation. Our tour included seeing how the plant is harvested. I found it interesting that during the tour people were not working in the fields, except for the man who came to cut bananas to show us.
